CHD Tree23mar13-005_scaledSaturday 23 March: Last Saturday, local opponents of the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road (BHLR) returned to the site of one of the protest camps trashed by road builders this January, removing debris and planting acorns.

A dozen people worked for 5 hours in freezing conditions, planting oak, wild cherry, and holly trees in the path of the proposed route of the BHLR, replacing the trees that were felled.

Charlotte Potter-Powell, a spokesperson for the Combe Haven Defenders said: “We have planted these precious trees as an act of faith that this Road – which has still not received the funding it needs from central government – can still be stopped.”
